Jill Biden Brings Bling and Blue Together in Jenny Packham Knotted Midi Dress for NATO Summit 2024 Dinner at White House

First Lady Jill Biden joined President Joe Biden on Wednesday as the couple welcomed guests for a dinner with NATO Allies and partners at the White House. The occasion marked the 75th anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

For the formal dinner, Jill Biden fashioned a midnight blue midi dress by British fashion designer Jenny Packham. The dress featured a crepe texture with draped detailing and crewneck neckline. It also included sharp shoulders and crystal embellishment at the neckline.

To accentuate the glittering details at the neckline, Biden opted for a pair of drop diamond earrings. As for her hair and makeup, the first lady pulled her blond tresses back, with a few wisps of hair framing her face. Biden’s makeup featured a subtle smokey eye and soft pink lip.

Her choice of dress and designer features some significance. She has worn variations of the color blue over the course of the last several weeks. The first lady fashioned a monochrome periwinkle power suit for President Joe Biden’s CNN debate on June 27, adding sparkling brooches to the lapel of her single-breasted blazer.

For the U.S.-France state dinner in Paris on June 8, Jill Biden wore a navy blue gown by Schiaparelli. While she has experimented with color in the past, her recent proclivity for various shades of blue might be a sartorial nod to the ongoing 2024 presidential campaign.

The Jenny Packham dress may also indicate a more serious, subdued elegance Biden favors for such formal occasions. The first lady has fashioned looks that gravitate towards a simple elegant aesthetic, much like the look she wore for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy on June 6.

Jenny Packham has long been a favorite designer of Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales has worn dresses by the British designer for years. Biden’s choice of dress perfectly married a classic style and silhouette with sparkling additions — an ideal ensemble for such an occasion as the dinner with NATO Allies and partners at the White House.
