Comedian and 8 Out of 10 Cats stalwart Jimmy Carr has been enjoying a lot of success with Netflix shows recently, first with his comedy specials and later with his panel show The Fix, which debuted last year.

And, speaking on Sunday Brunch today (March 24), Jimmy has now credited Netflix with inspiring comedy's current "renaissance", explaining that the streaming service is making stand-up comedy shows more accessible for viewers all around the world.

"It's a really interesting thing for comedy because it feels like comedy is going through this kind of renaissance at the moment where there's something for everyone," he told hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.

"There'll be a lot of people watching Sunday Brunch who aren't big fans of what I do. It's a weird thing with being a comic where if you think I'm funny, you're right. And if you think I'm not funny, you're right.

"There's something for everyone now."

Jimmy used Amy Schumer's recent Netflix special Growing as an example of how much variety is on offer on the service, adding: "It's a really different flavour to mine. It's so good, it's brilliant.

"There's so many great things on there. It's a great thing for comedy. People get really into it, watching lots of different ones."

Jimmy Carr's latest special, The Best Of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits, dropped on Netflix earlier this month, while Sunday Brunch airs on Channel 4.
