A popular JLS member shared his thoughts on the brutal weather conditions before he took the stage at Edinburgh Castle on Tuesday night.

The X Factor stars brought back the nostalgia as thousands flocked to the popular tourist spot to see them perform. However, the group were met with heavy downpours during their visit.

Aston Merrygold took to social media and said it was a "nice surprise" to be met with such a harsh forecast.

The band, made up of Aston, Marvin, JB and Oritsé, visited Edinburgh as part of their Summer Hits tour with Merrygold jokingly adding that he was forced to wear a jacket for their gig - the first time since the start of the leg. However, he added it was "all part of the fun" and later thanked their fans for coming out despite the downpours.

Taking to Instagram, he said: "Oh Edinburgh, this was a nice surprise today, thank you very much. Summer... ha ha. Swimming.

"Sweet Jesus. Well, it's all part of the fun, you know, JLS summer tour. We're still here guys which is the main thing. We're still here and ready for the show.

"What's mad is Edinburgh's got me wearing a jacket tonight. I don't wear a jacket on the summer tour and now I have to wear a jacket. Mad. Bring back the sun please."

We previously reported how a huge stream of people were caught on camera waiting to enter the venue as they braved the bleak weather conditions on July 9.

Despite strong winds and horizontal rain that was battering Edinburgh, the swarm of JLS fans were seen in high spirits and equipped with ponchos, waterproof coats and umbrellas.

Heavy downpours continued throughout the night and for the full gig as fans danced and celebrated in the rain. One fan wrote on TikTok: "Just a little bit on rain," as she sang along to the band's hit 'Beat Again'.
