Rangers Women boss Jo Potter insists she never felt her team were in any danger, after two late goals against bitter rivals Celtic were enough to seal their place in the Scottish Cup final.

Despite having the better of the chances, the Light Blues had to wait until the 85th minute to finally open the scoring, when Chelsea Cornett rose well to brilliantly head home from a corner. The victory was then wrapped up a minute from time when Kirsty Howat broke clear to beat Hoops stopper Kelsey Daugherty with an exquisite lob.

Although they left it late in the Hampden sunshine, Rangers gaffer Potter felt they were always in control and pointed to her team's superior fitness levels compared to their Old Firm counterparts. Speaking to BBC Scotland, she said: "I wasn't worried. I know we are fitter. I knew we'd get more chances. I said to the players at half-time I couldn't remember a stage where they worried us.

"The game was there for the taking and it was just about who wanted to be the player to step up and do that. They only looked threatening when they looked to get pieces and lump the ball into the box, but we were just as good as that, the delivery was good and what a header from Chelsea.

"We were creating chances and that was the biggest thing for me, that is why I wasn't worried. We've got four brilliant strikers to choose from and the substitutions always make a difference."

On the flip side, Celtic boss Elena Sadiku admits she was bitterly disappointed with her team's meek surrender of their chance to secure a domestic double, having built up a two point advantage at the top of the SWPL over Rangers with five games remaining. She said: "We were not on, it is not the Celtic I am used to seeing and we didn't deserve the win.

"The first half was bad, in the second half we tried to start well but in the end we conceded from a set piece. he mindset was not on today and that's the biggest difference so a big disappointment.

"For me it's about learning from this and make sure that this never happens again. If we want to win titles, this is not good enough."
