Jo Whiley sparked concern among fans as she completely lost her voice while trying to present Glastonbury coverage for the BBC. The Radio 2 DJ has been covering the festival since 1997 and continued soldiering on despite fans saying she sounded 'painful' and asking if she was 'ok'.

Jo, 58, addressed the issue as she told viewers watching along at home: "I have been having honey and lemon...everything that I could have possibly done, I have done.

"It's the most awful timing for this to have happened." She then turned to co-host Clara Amfo and asked her to continue. Clara said: "I can confirm Jo Whiley has made every effort to preserve that iconic voice of hers and I guarantee it will be back before the end of Glastonbury. We have high hopes."

Shaz said: "@jowhiley is painful to listen to #GLASTONBURY." Simon10LAgod begged: "Somebody please give Jo Whiley some throat lozenges. Failing that a very large glass of whisky."

Munklaadon1 echoed: "Jo whiley needs a lozenge." LHR Lisa wrote: "And watching @jowhiley #Glastonbury sounds like she has covid trying to present @bbc2."

Gambit asked: "Can someone please check if Jo Whiley is ok? Throat lozenges needed!" Neil leverett added: "#Glastonbury Somebody PURLLLEEASSE get @jowhiley a Strepsil!!"

Others paid tribute to the star's work ethic, with Pip commenting: "Three cheers for Jo Whiley! She's not missed a single #Glastonbury since the BBC began covering the festival in 1997 and here she is, gone midnight, her voice still absolutely f***** but soldiering on like the pro she is."
