News of England's Euro 2024 semi-final victory took the world by storm, even reaching as far as the Oval Office where US President Joe Biden credited UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for the success. "It's all because of the Prime Minister," Mr Biden quipped light-heartedly.

The accomplished win over the Netherlands was hailed as "good news indeed" by Biden, who congratulated Starmer on this monumental moment. As they sat together in the White House, reporters asked if football was on homecoming path, to which a beaming Starmer responded: "It looks like it."

Even amidst the NATO summit in Washington, Prime Minister Starmer managed to squeeze in some game-watching time alongside his Dutch colleague Dick Schoof. Reminiscing about the match with Biden, Starmer informed him that when they eventually left the viewing room, the game was hanging at a tense 1-1.

The two leaders enjoyed a good-natured laugh over the anecdote, with Biden humorously asking: "And you guys are still talking to one another? ".

Having been in No 10 for just a tad over a week, Starmer is now set to attend the tournament's final showdown on Sunday in Berlin. Ecstatic at England's magnificent performance and entry into the finals, the PM expressed his excitement with a tweet: "What a game England and what a winner," Starmer wrote.

"Berlin here we come! ". Among the highlights of the match that Starmer managed to spectate was Harry Kane's exceptional equaliser that sent England fans into an uproar of cheers. Capturing this nail-biting moment prime Minister was seen rising from his seat enthusiastically to celebrate.

After the electric thrill of the goal, he shook hands cordially with Dutch counterpart Mr Schoof. Sir Keir had previously mentioned his expectation of receiving updates on the game through clandestine means during a Nato meeting.

He shared with journalists: "I understand our phones are all taken off us, when we go into the council, so I've no doubt we'll be passed lots of notes with really important information about the summit, and one or two of those notes hopefully will be an update on the score, because I'm not going to be able to get it otherwise."
