Joe Lycett stunned as his card gets declined live on Late Night Lycett

Joe Lycett was left redfaced on his Channel 4 show after his card was declined live on air during a segment where the guests are asked to donate a big jackpot to a member of the audience. The comedian was presenting Late Night Lycett from Digbeth with Ross Kemp, Judi Love and comedian Sue Perkins.

The Brummie comedian explained to the cameras: "We have a big money jackpot that the audience plays for each week. What we don't have is any big money, or any money of any kind, which means I have to ask you three [the guests] to fork out from your own pockets. Bring out the chip and pin machine."

Joe told them he was also 'going to put in' and reassured his guests 'you can out in as much or as little as you like'. But after Joe entered his details into the chip and pin machine and handed the machine to Sue there was confusion in the studio before Sue revealed his card had been declined.

Joe, 35, clasped his hand over his mouth in shock before laughing and telling viewers 'I'll sort it later'. He added: "Welcome to Channel 4!"

After retrying his pin, the transaction was declined. Joe joked: "I need to check my Monzo...I only put a fiver in!"

Joe revealed that last week's celebrity guests had donated a total of £1583.69 to a member of the audience.
