AN eight-year old boy has raised £2,400 for Skipton Step into Action as a thank-you for the support the charity has given to his grandparents.

Joe Whitehead's granny, Sue, from Cononley, who sadly died in April, lived with Alzheimer's for several years, and together with her husband, Mike, were supported by Skipton Step into Action.

After doing the Skipton Great Santa Fun Run last year alongside SSIA, Joe wanted to do something to raise money for the charity, and earlier this month, along with others, including his parents and grandad, climbed Mount Snowdon.

"Skipton Step into Action are an amazing charity who provided a lifeline to my granny and our family through their services. I really want to raise money to support them to help others like they helped us," said Joe.

Joe raised £1,650 from direct sponsorship, with match funding of £750 from his dad's employer, The Wates Family Enterprise Trust taking the total raised to £2,400.

Joe and his family now live near Leeds. Donations can still be made to: https://www.justgiving.com/page/joseph-whitehead-1710693622407
