John Krasinski is coming clean.

During a May 15 guest appearance on former costars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s rewatch podcast Office Ladies, Krasinski, 44, admitted to taking a major item from The Office on his last day: the Dunder Mifflin sign.

Reminiscing about their final moments of taping, Krasinski recalled “evil genius” creator Greg Daniels taking the cast to shoot a scene at Poor Richard’s dive bar, a favorite among the characters. Daniels, 60, had the entire cast enter and exit the pub’s set repeatedly. Upon their last entrance, Krasinski remembered seeing the entire crew gathered.

“I’m choking up just talking about it, but then when you come back in and see your TV dad and all of your family waiting there and clapping, and [Greg] said, ‘That’s the end of The Office,’ I think the color black came out of my mouth. It was just the scariest, most beautiful, horrific moment of my life,” the Quiet Place star detailed.

Thirty minutes later, he nabbed the company sign. "I’ve always lied to Greg that I didn’t take it, but I did. I stole it,” he confessed.

For Kinsey, 52, watching the actor stuff the sign into the back of his car was “one of her favorite memories” of their last day.

“I was like, don’t look over here!” recalled Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert throughout the show’s nine seasons. “It wasn't quite dark enough. Yeah. So it just looked like I was putting a body in a car.”

According to the filmmaker, Daniels approached him at the wrap party and asked if he had seen the sign. Krasinski denied having any knowledge of the sign’s whereabouts. Kinsey, who played Angela Martin in the iconic sitcom, “never told anyone” about what she saw.

“Well, now you did. You told everyone,” Krasinski quipped. “And I was dressed like a cat burglar.”

The NBC mockumentary series is set to receive a spinoff. Daniels and Michael Koman (Nathan for You) will unite for a new Peacock series starring Domhnall Gleeson and The White LotusSabrina Impacciatore. According to the upcoming show’s logline, the crew behind the filming of The Office will discover “a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”

While production is scheduled to begin in July, many former Office stars won’t be apart of the show. Fischer, 50, who played Pam Beesly, told PEOPLE exclusively that she was “not involved.”

“I don’t know a lot of details,” Fischer said. “I haven’t been approached about it.”

At the premiere of Steve Carell’s new film IF, the Despicable Me star, 61, told The Hollywood Reporter that although he “will be watching” the spinoff, he “will not be showing up.”

“It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character to show up in something like that,” explained Carell, who portrayed regional manager Michael Scott. “But I’m excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit.”

Krasinski also addressed the upcoming spinoff in conversation with PEOPLE at the IF movie premiere on May 13. When asked if he was involved with the project, the actor admitted, "I know nothing about it other than I think it's taking place in a newspaper, a local newspaper and that Domhnall Gleeson, who I am working with right now, who’s the sweetest most talented guy, he’s going to crush… whatever it is… he’s going to crush it."

As for whether Krasinski thought he'd reprise his role as Jim, he said, "No, they haven't asked but the truth is I’d do anything Greg Daniels asked me to do."
