Jamie Murphy admits he can't see John Lundstram staying at Rangers next season as the midfielder nears the end of his current contract.

The former Ibrox star reckons that the Scouser will not put pen to paper on a new deal to remain in the Scottish Premiership with his current Light Blues' contract entering the final weeks. The 30-year-old has been locked in talks over a new deal with Rangers for months but with no agreement in place he will become a free agent with English Premier League new boys Ipswich Town and Trabzonspor said to be keeping tabs on the soon-to-be free agent.

Boss Philippe Clement has previously admitted he would like to keep the 30-year-old in Govan next season - but Murphy believes that the decision now comes down to Kieran McKenna's men and the Super Lig side. Asked if he could see Lundstram returning to the Premier League with Ipswich, Murphy told Go Radio: “Yeah, it depends what he is looking for.

"Is he wanting to go abroad or is he looking to play in the Premier League. It’s a choice he has got to make. I don’t think he will stay at Rangers now.

"You see that from all the rumours and stuff coming out. Good luck to him, he has done well for Rangers since he has been there.”
