He is a member of the Eurovision Song Contest elite, having won the competition twice and Irish legend Johnny Logan will have a starring role in Tuesday's first semi final in Malmo.

It was back in 1981 that Johnny got his first taste of Eurovision glory, when What's Another Year topped the leaderboard, before he did exactly the same at the 1987 contest with Hold Me Now. For years, he was the only act who could boast a double Eurovision win, but he now shares that honour with Loreen, after she added to her 2012 win with Euphoria by triumphing in Liverpool last year.

She and her track Tattoo are the reason that Eurovision is being held in Sweden this year and it's been widely speculated that Johnny will offer his own tribute to her by singing Euphoria during the interval of Tuesday night's first semi final, some 43 years on from his first win.

As well as performing, Johnny will also be hoping that Ireland's 2024 act Bambie Thug can break a six year wait for the country to qualify for the final, having not done so since 2018.

How old is Johnny Logan?

Actually born in Australia in May 1954, Johnny will turn 70 on May 13 this year.

After winning Eurovision twice as a performer, Johnny penned Why Me, the song that earned Ireland's Linda Martin victory in 1992. For decades, Johnny has continued is proud links with the contest, being involved with Ireland selection competition Eurosong and being a regular at the annual Eurovision in Concert event.

Later this year he is set to perform at Maspalomas Winter Pride in Gran Canaria.
