Jon Bon Jovi 'got away with murder' in the early years of his career

Jon Bon Jovi has admitted that he "got away with murder" in the early years of his career.

The 62-year-old rocker has opened up about his marriage to Dorothea Hurley, admitting he was "no saint" after his band Bon Jovi shot to fame in the 1980s.

"I got away with murder," Jon told Michael Strahan in a new interview special for ABC. "I'm a rock and roll star, I'm not a saint. You know, I'm not saying that there weren't 100 girls in my life - I'm Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good."

The Livin' on a Prayer hitmaker continued, "But if you think I was ever going to jeopardise my - anything for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. What kind of excesses does a man need that's going to fuel that fire? It's just not worth it."

Jon and Dorothea, 61, have been married since 1989. They have four children together, Jake, 21, Stephanie, 30, Romeo, 20, and Jesse, 29.

The musician then went on to credit his wife with keeping their family "right".

"There is no doubt in my mind that this world revolves because of her," he gushed. "Because of what she did to keep the kids right, what she does to keep me right, what we do together to keep it right. No doubt about it."

"She's certainly not afraid to call me out on something," Jon continued of Dorothea, "but she's also there when I fall. And I'm there for her when she falls. No matter where I went in my career, the ups or the downs, we went there together."

The couple began dating in 1980, when they attended the same high school in New Jersey.
