Jon Rahm blanked by former PGA pal as LIV Golf poison boils over at The Masters
Jon Rahm revealed that one former PGA tour colleague didn't even LOOK at him during the The Masters.
The Spaniard made the mega money move to LIV Golf back in December, despite previously being an outspoken critic of the Saudi backed tour and those who ditched the PGA. But he became the organisation's poster boy after a $400m move, making him the biggest name to defect.
The reigning champion headed to Augusta as a LIV golfer for the first time and received a mixed reception from his fellow pros. Rahm admitted that he expected a few to be absolutely fine and that was the case with certain players. But he also revealed that one unnamed star - who he believed to be a good friend - couldn't even look his way in Georgia, while others embraced him in a welcome Masters reunion. Asked if he was welcomed back into the majors fold, Rahm replied: "Some did.
"I expected it. And then, there was someone else who I expected to be a little tougher... and one of them hugged me. I think that, among all the relationships I have, it has been everything that I expected. My friends are still my friends.
"And then someone, with whom I was very cordial and had a positive relationship, has not even looked at me. If someone changes their opinion of me, it is more their problem than mine. I am not worried. I knew it was going to happen. I didn't know who."
It was a tournament to forget for Rahm. The 2023 champion finished the weekend tied for 45th place on nine over par - his worst ever Masters finish. World no. 1 Scottie Scheffler finished top of the pile, while legend Tiger Woods was bottom of the field on 16 over.
