Jonnie Irwin made the most of the September sunshine to take in a cricket match at the Oval and said it was a "massive highlight" of the summer.

The A Place In The Sun star is battling terminal cancer but has said he is determined to make the most of the time he has left with his wife Jess and their children – sons Rex, four, and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

Irwin has been sharing titbits from the summer on Instagram and his latest snaps showed him enjoying a cricket match in a group that included cricketer Ryan Sidebottom.

"Had the best day in awesome company thanks to @ryansidebottom_official and @engagegroup_uk who made the whole experience a massive highlight of my summer," he captioned the pictures.

Irwin, 49, was told that he had terminal lung cancer – which has now spread to his brain – in 2020.

However, he didn't go public with his diagnosis until last year, and has since explained that he kept it to himself because he didn't want it to affect his work and didn't want to be treated differently.

The star, who is also known for hosting Escape To The Country, was initially given months to live and has said doctors did not expect him to see 2023.

Fans were thrilled to see the TV star out making memories.

"You are living whilst so many of us are just existing… and I for one have no excuse!" one person posted in the comments section.
