Aston Merrygold's controversial elimination from Strictly Come Dancing is still causing ripples on live spin-off show It Takes Two.

The early departure of the former JLS star from the BBC ballroom earlier this month was criticised by everyone from Peter Andre to JLS themselves, with head judge Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood facing the brunt of the backlash.

Even Aston's fellow competitors were apparently swearing up a storm when Shirley Ballas sealed the singer's fate, but now another eliminated contestant may have scored the last laugh for Aston.

During Monday's edition of It Takes Two, presenter Zoe Ball was left slightly red-faced and chuckling when she made the mistake of asking Sunday's eliminee Jonnie Peacock who he wanted to win the series.

"Who would I like to win? Aston," he answered to a huge roar from the crowd.

"Okay," a sighing Zoe Ball interrupted, "I've got some news for you!"

That slightly awkward moment aside, Jonnie definitely has a favourite among the remaining seven celebrity finalists.

"Remaining couples, I love Davood [Ghadami]," he said. "I think, as a non-dancer who's come in, he's improved the most."

Those watching It Takes Two from home seemed to prefer Jonnie's first suggestion a bit more, and who can blame them?
