Jordan Pickford savaged for England antics and look as Dutch media ask if 'amateur' has been on the laughing gas

Jordan PIckford has been on the end of some savage criticism in the wake of Euro 2024's struggles against Slovakia - from the DUTCH media.

Gareth Southgate's men stumbled into the last eight with a 2-1 win over Slovakia. A sluggish England needed Jude Bellingham's overhead kick on the 96th minute to rescue extra-time before Harry Kane's early header allowed them to defend their lead for the remaining of the extra half-an-hour to book a quarter-final date with Switzerland

The reaction has been strong after an extremely underwhelming group stage campaign from the Three Lions as well, with many predicting they'll be dumped out by the Swiss unless they up their game. And while most of the ire has been sent Southgate's way, it seems Pickford has really riled up the Dutch. His roar of celebration as he caught the ball in the final seconds was maybe a bit much, bit it seems everything about the Everton keeper rubs certain pundits in Holland up the wrong way.

Johan Derksen told Today Inside Oranje : “What really bothers me about that team is that terrible Everton goalkeeper. A goalkeeper with sagging socks, who looks like a goalkeeper from the sixth team of an amateur club."

Wilfred Genee also piled on, saying: “Did you see how happy he was at the end, when he had that ball? It wasn’t good! He had to be admitted, that guy. He was lying there and I think he is not well anymore. Something happened, laughing gas?"

Derksen then added: "He has been behaving like this all year at Everton.”
