Josh Duhamel Says Son Axl, 10, Is 'Very Excited' to Have a Sibling, Wants to Name the Baby Gary

Josh Duhamel's son is excited to get a new sibling!

While appearing on Live with Kelly and Mark on Wednesday, the Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! actor, 50, chatted with Kelly Ripa, 52, and Mark Consuelos, 52, about the exciting baby news he revealed earlier this week, and how his son Axl, 10, had been handling it.

"You dropped some pretty big news the other day, do you want to share it with the rest of the audience?" Ripa asks Duhamel.

"Well, my wife and I are expecting a baby," he replies.

"Does Axl know?" Ripa asks.

"He does know! He's excited," Duhamel shares. "He's very excited. I don't think he quite understands that it's actually real. He will once he sees this little thing in front of him. I think I'm probably the same."

"He's 10 years old, right?" Ripa asks, which Duhamel confirms.

"So that's a great age," Ripa says. "He's going to be prime big brother material."

"Yeah, I think it's going to be good for him because he's been an only child up to this point," Duhamel says. "And now he's going to have some responsibility. He's excited. He's going to be a great older brother, too. He's a really sweet-natured kid who loves babies, so I think this is kind of perfect."

"Do you have any names picked out?" asks Consuelos.

"I do, but I can't tell you. Yeah..." Duhamel responds.

"Has Axl picked out any names?" Ripa asks.

"Yeah, he likes Gary. He wants to name the baby Gary," Duhamel tells the co-hosts.

"I like that name! I like Gary, I think it's cute," Ripa says.

"I think if we have a dog, we'll name it Gary," the actor quips. "But no, no."

Duhamel shares son Axl with ex-wife Fergie and is expecting his first baby with wife Audra Mari. The couple announced their big news earlier this week in a joint Instagram post.

In a photo where Mari held ultrasound photos, the caption read, "Baby Duhamel coming soon 🤍."

Duhamel began dating Mari in 2019 following his divorce from Fergie. The "Big Girls Don't Cry" singer, 48, filed for divorce in late May 2019, nearly two years after she and the actor announced their breakup in a joint statement in September 2017.
