Josh Peck Reveals He Came 'Close' to Playing Edward in “Twilight”: 'Hadn't Even Had a Tummy Tuck Yet!'
"I'm like, 'There's no way. He's gotta be so shirtless,' " said Peck of being in the running for the part, which eventually went to Robert Pattinson
Josh Peck was almost a member of the Cullen family!
The Drake & Josh alum, 36, revealed on the Monday episode of his Good Guys podcast, with Twilight alum Taylor Lautner as the guest, that he once came "close" to playing Edward Cullen in the blockbuster vampire saga, only to lose out on the role to Robert Pattinson.
"I remember it's like 2006? 7?" Peck recalled to Lautner, 31, and co-host Ben Soffer. "They're like, 'Audition for this movie, Twilight. It's based on a book — it's gonna be great.' So I send in my tape ... for Edward."
"A month later, I'm with my manager. He goes, 'It's down to you and three guys. You're close,' " he added. "I'm like [surprised], 'Really?' I hadn't even had a tummy tuck yet! I'm like, 'There's no way. He's gotta be so shirtless. It's not gonna happen.' "

"Spoiler alert — didn't get it," Peck joked as Lautner and Soffer laughed.
Pattinson, of course, would go on to play Edward in all five Twilight films from 2008 to 2012, opposite Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Lautner as werewolf Jacob Black.
Peck recalled that when he saw Pattinson, 37, as Edward in the movies, "I'm like, 'In what f---ing world were they like, 'Okay, here's what we're thinking: Chris Hemsworth or Stanley Tucci?' Like what the f---? Impossible!"
"That's amazing," said Lautner of Peck's audition. "I did not know that. Holy crap."

Last year, Stewart, 33, opened up about the 10-year anniversary of the film series, based on the best-selling book series by Stephenie Meyer, which wrapped with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in 2012,
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress said she "had no idea" the series had been going through such a resurgence on Netflix.
"This is great!" she said. "I saw that it was on Netflix; I was on and looking through [it]. It's weird, it feels incredibly far away and also still not that far away from me."
Stewart added that the anniversary made her realize, "I'm old, my God."
"Now it's like, wow, I have to go to my high-school anniversary already," she continued. "It's rad. I think it's amazing."
