Josie Gibson insisted her I’m A Celebrity row with Fred Sirieix was “blown out of proportion” as the pair shared a hug on This Morning.

The pair were both contestants on the ITV reality show last year and clashed over cooking, with First Dates star Sirieix weighing in as Gibson manned the stove. Much was made of the tension between them when they were campers.

But when Sirieix appeared on This Morning on Wednesday (March 6), they revealed that they are actually friends.

What, how, and why?

Sirieix was on the programme to cook roast chicken soup and sweetcorn but, in a nod to a meal they clashed over, Gibson joked: “Why didn’t you do bean fritters?”

“Funny enough, I’ve been asked but, you know, it’s not my favourite recipe,” he laughed.

As the TV star started to prepare the meal, Gibson’s co-host Craig Doyle jokingly asked the pair: “Are you OK?” “We love each other!” insisted Gibson. “It’s been really blown out of proportion hasn’t it Fred?”

“It has, it has, it has,” he agreed, as they hugged. “We have been through something a bit spectacular together haven’t we?” said Gibson. “It was a journey.”

Sirieix added: “I think that people can’t understand what it means to be in the jungle unless you are in the jungle and the reason why it’s called I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is because you really want to get out of there!” “Didn’t I ever, didn’t I ever!” agreed Gibson.

Doyle also shared that Gibson and Sirieix had a blast catching up backstage before the chef headed into the studio for his cooking demo. “I am so pleased that the world gets to see that the two of you are really close pals," he said.

"Genuinely, behind the scenes, chatting, laughing and hugging. It’s good to see… because the jungle is a pressurised place!”

What else happened on This Morning?

The former campmates also shared a giggle about the time Sirieix dropped his stock in the fire. “We won these Oxo cubes and Fred accidentally dropped them in the fire, can you remember that?” Gibson said.

He replied: “I know, do you know what? I was so embarrassed that I did that. Say nothing but then I thought to myself, ’No I’ve got to come clean, I’ve got to admit to my crime.’

“I desperately tried to get the cube out of the fire and I couldn’t because it was totally carbonised!”
