Joy Behar says “The View ”costar“ ”Sunny Hostin asked if she was at D-Day: 'I'm not “that” old'

"You said I was there!" Hostin defended. "I was like, 'In 1944?'"

Historical tourist Joy Behar set the record straight on her whereabouts on June 6, 1944.

During a Hot Topics discussion in honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, The View panelist revealed that her costar Sunny Hostin asked her if she was present when U.S. soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy because she once visited the historical site on vacation. 

“I was just saying that I was in Normandy, so Sunny goes, ‘Were you there that day [in] 1944?’” Behar asked as Hostin lowered her head and began to laugh. “No. I’m old, but I’m not that old.”

Thank goodness that she wasn’t, because Behar, who was born in 1942, would’ve been less than 2 years old at the time. Hostin then interjected to defend her question. “You said I was there!” she exclaimed. “I was like, ‘In 1944?’"

Behar then explained that she actually visited the site “a few years ago” on a trip. “I visited the cemetery and I saw the cliffs that our guys had to climb while Germans were waiting for them to get to the top of the cliff so that they could shoot them,” she said. “These are our boys! Our boys.”

She was accompanied by a French tour guide on the excursion. “I said to him, ‘We saved France.’ And he said, ‘You saved the world,’” she recalled. “That is the most touching thing anybody has ever said to me about this country.”

She added that “for us to be throwing [the United States] down the toilet to a convicted felon,” an apparent jab at U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump, who is “neck and neck with [Joe] Biden” was absurd.

“Today is a day to reflect on what we have in this country — and what we could lose very easily if we don’t watch it,” Behar said. “End of speech!”
