Julia Roberts Switched Her Signature Red Hair to Bright Blonde

And her colorist shared the best advice about going blonde.

She may be one of the most famous redheads, ever, but Julia Roberts signature color got swapped for a bright blonde. In a new set of photos posted by her colorist, Kadi Lee, the Oscar-winning actress can be seen with a new hair color alongside her bestie, George Clooney. The new color, which involved a "drastic" change, according to Lee, includes a multi-dimensional blend of blondes, with lighter hues around her face and dark roots. While Lee was behind the color, the beach waves and cut came courtesy of Roberts's go-to hair maestro, Serge Normant.

On Instagram, Lee described the process and mentioned how Roberts had been blonde seven years ago. She offered some advice for anyone hoping to make a major change, emphasizing patience and focusing on the health of the hair in whatever processes a change may require.

"Back to BLONDE for the prettiest lady @JuliaRoberts ✨ (w/ my favourite guy @sergenormant.)," Lee captioned the carousel. "When making drastic color changes, in this case from red to blonde, my approach is always the same- slow and methodical, while always keeping the health and integrity of the hair first and foremost."

"I recently came across a caption from 7 years ago when I did a similar change for Julia (thx Facebook memories lol) and the consistency made me smile. It read as follows…," she continued. "Drastic color changes can be quite stressful for a colorist, but over the years I’ve developed a calm and methodical approach that (eventually) gives me the natural and realistic result I need, while keeping the hair strong and healthy (the most important part!). Biggest tip- go gently, in multiple sessions. Do not be pressured by drastic and unrealistic before and after pictures on Instagram. Those photos don’t depict the dozens of hours of work, and they are often heavily edited. In real life, things take time. Really visualize your end result, and slowly and deliberately paint your way there."

"Thank you @JuliaRoberts for your years of trust! That head of hair is the best canvas, you’re the ultimate muse, and I’m so lucky to be a part of your team," Lee finished.

The photos show Roberts getting glammed up while wearing a black dress with puff sleeves. She debuted the hair change with an Instagram post that featured President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama, as well as Clooney. According to the Associated Press, the two stars raised $30 million for Biden's reelection campaign over the weekend with an event in Los Angeles.
