Julianne Hough, Utkarsh Ambudkar Tapped to Host Tony Awards Preshow

Julianne Hough and Utkarsh Ambudkar will host the Tony Awards preshow on June 16.

The preshow, entitled The Tony Awards: Act One, features a presentation of the first round of Tony Awards at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The show airs live on Paramount’s free streaming service Pluto TV from 6:30-8:00 p.m. ET/3:30-5:00 p.m. PT.

The Tony Awards ceremony, hosted by Ariana DeBose, airs live immediately afterwards from the same location, from 8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/5:00-8:00 p.m. PT on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. This is the third year DeBose has hosted. She will also choreograph the opening number for the show and serve as a producer.

Hough, known for Dancing with the Stars, where she first appeared as a dancer and now serves as co-host, made her Broadway debut in the play POTUS in 2022. She hosted the preshow with Skylar Astin in 2023 and Darren Criss in 2022.

Ambudkar made his Broadway debut in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop show Freestyle Love Supreme in 2019. He currently appears on the CBS show Ghosts and has previously appeared in Pitch Perfect and Never Have I Ever, among other titles.

The Tony Awards are presented by the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing and produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions and White Cherry Entertainment, with Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss as the showrunners and executive producers. Weiss will also serve as director. Jack Sussman is also an executive producer.
