Just hours left to claim £100 cost of living payment as cash enters four million bank accounts

Customers at banking giant Nationwide have just hours left to claim a free £100 payment to help with the cost of living. The building society has been paying out the cash as part of its Fairer Share payments scheme, providing a much-needed boost to customers.

Almost four million people have received payments since June 13. Today (Friday, June 28) is the last day for Nationwide customers to claim the cash.

It has paid out 99.9% of the money, reports The Sun, but there are still some households who haven't had it and face missing out. To qualify for a payment, you must hold a qualifying current account and either a qualifying savings or mortgage product.

You must have held these two accounts on March 31 this year and still have had it open this month. The following current accounts will qualify you for the payment:

  • FlexPlus

  • FlexOne

  • FlexStudent

  • FlexGraduate

  • FlexAccount

  • FlexDirect

  • FlexBasic

It's likely Nationwide will have contacted you, either via its banking app, post or email if you are eligible for a payment. Money will show up as "Nationwide Fairer Share Payment" on your bank statement.

Anyone who has a joint current or savings account, or mortgage, will qualify for two payments, meaning they will receive £200 in total. If you hold more than one current account, the money will be paid into any one of these.

If you have an account in your sole name the money will be paid into this account, or a joint account if you do not.
