Justin Bieber is being sued for copyright infringement over his hit single 10,000 Hours.

Bieber, as well as the song's co-writers Dan + Shay, are being accused of copying a song originally written in the 1970s.

According to TMZ, who obtained a copy of the lawsuit, Bieber is accused of copying the chorus from First Time Baby Was A Holiday which was written in 1973 by Palmer Rakes and Frank Fioravanti but not released until 2014 by Asia Luckey.

The plaintiffs claim to seek "money, credit and an injunction preventing further distribution" of Bieber's hit record.

They allege that the similarities between the two songs is "unmistakable" and accuse Bieber and his co-writers of passing the song off as their own.

10,000 Hours has totalled over two billion streams worldwide since it was released last year.

The lawsuit is the latest in a number of claims against high-profile artists that allege plagiarism. Ed Sheeran recently won a court case proving that he did not copy hit single Shape of You from another artist.

The high-profile trial saw Sheeran sing No Diggity by Blackstreet in court to demonstrate how songs can have similar melodies.

Dua Lipa has also been served two different lawsuits over her track Levitating that claim she copied existing works.

Katy Perry recently won her own plagiarism case after she was accused of copying a Christian rap song from 2008.

Perry won the case on appeal after she was initially ordered to pay £2m to Flame after they alleged that her hit Dark Horse copied from their song Joyful Noise.

Bieber also recently dropped a defamation case against two women who accused him of sexual assault.

He previously said of the accusations: “I don’t normally address things, as I have dealt with random accusations my entire career. Rumours are rumours, but sexual abuse is something I don’t take lightly.”
