KAPOW: Free sci-fi festival coming to North East venue this weekend

A free family-friendly sci-fi festival will take place in Teesside tomorrow (Saturday, July 6) from 10am to 4pm.

The annual KAPOW sci-fi festival is gearing up for a grand return to its new location, Stockton Globe, featuring character appearances and workshops.

Traders will sell an array of sci-fi, TV, and film memorabilia, alongside goods from local businesses such as Beanie Games, The Hippie and The Witch, Jess McGowan Art, Jurassic Creations and Star Traveller Art.

Visitors can revel in different zones such as Author's Alley, for enthusiasts of creative writing and publishing.

Dr Who fans are also catered for with attractions including the famous Tardis, Curator's Console, and a chance to meet The Doctor's most famous foe, the Daleks.

The festival will feature a trail of commissioned mural artworks, live demonstrations, and workshops aiming to foster creativity within communities.

Run in partnership between the unconventional gift shop, Who-Ray!, and Stockton Globe, a spokesperson for the event said: "If the thought of dozens of Stormtroopers roaming around Stockton Globe doesn’t pique your interest, we don’t know what will!"

KAPOW is a free event that does not require a ticket to enter.
