Kate Ferdinand has revealed she was “nervous” about announcing her current pregnancy after suffering a miscarriage last year.

The former TOWIE star, who is already a parent to son Cree, two, with husband Rio, confirmed she was expecting her second in a pregnancy reveal video over the weekend.

Discussing her pregnancy on her Blended podcast, Ferdinand admitted she was relieved to finally confirm the news after weeks of apprehension due to her recent miscarriage.

The TV personality suffered a miscarriage in July 2022, shortly after discovering she had fallen pregnant with a second child.

She told listeners: “I’m just so excited that I can share this with you all because I’ve been a bit nervous to share it because of my last miscarriage.

“It just makes the whole situation a little bit more anxious. You’re a little bit more worried and you’re really hoping that it’s going to be OK.

“Although we told our family and friends there’s still that element of doubt and worry and you’re a little bit more cautious. But I’m just grateful that I can be free and honest and let you guys know what’s going on.”

Ferdinand also shared how she broke the joyous news that she was expecting again to her three stepchildren, Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11, before Christmas.

“We actually told the kids on Christmas Eve – we put it in their Christmas boxes,” she said. “We told them at Christmas because I like a little drink over Christmas dinner and the clothes were getting a bit tight.

“My body stretched a little bit faster this time, and Tate, about four weeks ago – I think Rio was at the World Cup – made a big announcement and said, ‘I think you’re pregnant.’ I was a bit flustered and didn’t want to tell the kids, just in case.”

The former ITV star confirmed her pregnancy on Sunday (January 29), revealing a prominent baby bump in a short video clip shared on Instagram.

Captioning the post, she wrote: “We’ve been praying for you.”

The couple’s happy news was met with a flood of well wishes from social media users and famous friends.

Love Island’s Molly-Mae Hague penned: “Congratulations Kate” while Holly Willoughby wrote: “Aww congratulations to you both… that’s lovely news”.

Actress Michelle Keegan commented: “Congratulations darling” and comedian Mo Gilligan shared: “Big congratulations to you both on your new addition”.
