The star's husband spent more than a year in hospital after he fell ill with the coronavirus
Kate Garraway has shared that her husband Derek Draper has been back in hospital, saying he has “a long road ahead” of him.
Draper spent more than a year in hospital after falling ill with the coronavirus in 2020 and now needs round the clock care.
This week Good Morning Britain star Garraway updated fans on how he was getting on as she revealed that the pair enjoyed a night out to see Sir Elton John on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.

Writing on Instagram, the TV star said she and Draper saw John in London and that the Rocketman even performed Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me as a special tribute to them.
She wrote: “… so this was a moment.
"Finally found someone who had actually filmed it rather than just burst into joyous tears as we did!!! Still can’t quite believe we were there at all - even hours before we feared Derek would be too weak - but he was determined."
Updating fans about how Draper was getting on, she said: "Yes Derek has been back in hospital this week & yes there’s such a long road ahead but #eltonjohn & @davidfurnish you gave the kids & Derek a moment that we will never forget and has lifted their spirits again to feel anything is possible."
"Thank you for your inspiring music and huge heart," Garraway added, saying that she was "bursting with gratitude" as she thanked all the people who had helped to make it possible.
