Kate Garraway divided fans when she chucked an analogue alarm clock across the room on Friday's edition of Good Morning Britain (April 12).

The presenter was hosting the show alongside Adil Ray. The alarm clock was used to in a gag to "wake up" rock legend Suzi Quatro who "slept in" the last time she was due to appear on the early-morning programme.

Kate admitted the star "will probably curse me now". A confused Adil asked: "How's that going to work?" To which Kate replied: "Well, because she'll be listening."

However, Adil made the point: "Well if she is listening, she'll already be up." After taking his point on board, Kate decided to lob the alarm clock over her shoulder, with the cameras panning in on the item on the floor.

Adil burst into laughter after Kate's dramatic throw, and it was clear the clock was broken as the glass screen had cracked. Kate added: "Honestly... We'll be chatting to her later. Honestly, you try your hardest, you make an effort... It's still going off."

The alarm could be heard in the background as Adil continued to cackle over the situation on the ITV news programme. While the pair found the bit amusing, it caused some viewers to 'switch off' and hit out on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One wrote: "That was cringeworthy. Had to turn over to BBC." A second shared: Switched off... Mouthy Shouty Ray is on... I refuse to watch him... he is so Labourite and should be neutral.. will always switch him off...""

A third noted: "Programme started badly with mumbling, bumbling, Beresford, and then a failed comedian, Adil Ray hosting. @GMB". A fourth described the show as 'very amateurish,' blasting: "Please get rid of them. Get Ruth or Malcolm back to do the weather, please. I'm off to @BBCBreakfast." Another penned: GMB Switches over, no way can I watch!""

However, some viewers enjoyed the light-hearted banter on Friday morning, with one fan saying: "I love watching these two together, they are a double act of greatness. More please."

Another viewer added: "@kategarraway it's so lovely to see you smiling and happy xx you've been so funny this morning x."
