Yahoo News Kate Garraway leads ITV tribute special for late husband, Derek Draper
ITV has confirmed a tribute special fronted by Kate Garraway for her late husband, Derek Draper.
Draper contracted COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic and experienced health issues and complications relating to it until his death earlier this year.
From Flicker Productions, the team behind Finding Derek and Caring for Derek, comes Kate Garraway: Derek's Story. Beginning in May 2023, the film will follow the final months of Draper's life, showcasing the difficulties the family faced and the moments of joy they managed to find before the end.

The film will also look back at Draper's early life, political career and relationship with Garraway, while touching on the realities that 5 million unpaid carers in the UK face in their everyday lives.
Garraway said in a statement: "Obviously, when we started making this documentary early last year, we had no idea the events that would unfold that ultimately took Derek from us.
"And in January 2024, I wondered if it was right that it should ever come to air."
She continued: "But I didn't want to let those who have given us so much support over the last four years down, and the carers paid and unpaid who, in their thousands of letters to me, feel Derek's story has given them a voice. Also, I remembered so vividly that the idea of making this third documentary at all came from Derek himself.
"I am delighted that the film is a tribute to Derek, his incredible spirit and a tribute to all of those who fight on to make every second of life count, whatever is thrown at them."
Garraway recently returned to Good Morning Britain after taking time off following Draper's death, but she had to take time off again after losing her voice.
Kate Garraway: Derek's Story is set to air on ITV1 and stream on ITVX later this month.
