Kate Garraway has said her son Billy found his 11th birthday “emotional” as his dad Derek Draper remains in hospital after battling coronavirus.

The youngster enjoyed several parties, including for pals and family, and his mum said they’ll do it all again when Draper finally gets out of hospital.

Garraway, 56, who returned to presenting duties on Good Morning Britain last week, told fellow host Ben Shephard on Monday: "It's like the Queen, I told him.

“Obviously there's the situation with his dad being in hospital, and all the challenges with mixing.

"He’s having four birthdays – the first was with his friends on Saturday and Global Smooth Radio sent him a cake which was delivered by Roman Kemp and his dad Martin Kemp."

She added: "Billy absolutely loved it, he was completely overwhelmed.

"He was emotional too of course, but I said we were gonna do it all again when Derek gets back."

On Sunday she took to social media to thank her I'm A Celebrity campmate Roman Kemp and Myleene Klass for helping Billy celebrate.

Kemp, Garraway’s I'm A Celebrity campmate, got in touch with his youthful side by engaging Billy and his friends in a huge nerf gun battle.

Sharing a video on Instagram, Garraway wrote: "And what’s a #jungle camp without a surprise visit from an @imacelebrity star?!

"Cue @romankemp surprise arrival - who do you think is loving the #nerf war the most??!!!

"Thanks @romankemp you are a total star & great mate - so lovely to see you & your Dad @martinjkemp xxx"

Praising Klass, she wrote: "So I was super nervous about Bill’s birthday this year - we usually have a family do with grandparents & a few of his friends but obviously this not possible.

"So we are seeing grandparents separately but wanted to do something for him & his mates in the garden.

"Derek is so brilliant at this, organising treasure hunts & boys own adventures so mentioned to @myleeneklass really didn’t want to let Bill down & did she know anyone with a tent we could borrow in case it was wet. Little did I know what I was unleashing!

"She is in her element! At 8.30 this morning she arrived with Apollo in tow to supervise the brilliant @sleepyteepeeuk to set up the most amazing jungle camp ever!!!"

Draper was rushed to hospital with the virus back in March and spent months in intensive care. He has since gained consciousness but remains in a serious condition.

GMB airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
