Kate Hudson Says She And Ex Matt Bellamy Are ‘Better As Friends’

Kate Hudson is taking her split well and says she would love to have a ‘unofficial marriage’ like her mum Goldie Hawn has with Kurt Russell.

The actress split from her Muse frontman husband Matt Bellamy in 2014 after they got engaged in 2011 and had a son Bingham, now four.

She told the April issue of Red magazine: “The goal is always to stay together. Matt and I worked on it together and we came to the point where we realised that we are better as friends. That is a healthier approach for our kids and we can see the results.”

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old – who also has 12-year-old son Ryder from her previous marriage to Chris Robinson – recently revealed she would love to have a relationship like her mother Goldie Hawn does with Kurt Russell.

The pair have been together since 1983 but say they don’t need to make their union legal.

Kate added: “I think what they have, in terms of connection, is really rare and beautiful and something to strive for. But it doesn’t come without its stuff, as do all relationships.”

When asked what the best advice her mother has given to her, she added: “Be true to yourself. When you’re connected intimately, it’s a huge time of growth. Accept what that is and to go there, even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s the time you learn the most about yourself.”
