Yahoo News Will Kate Middleton Attend Trooping the Colour? Here's What We Know

In case the words “Trooping the Colour” bring you nothing but stress and confusion, it's an annual tradition in which the royal family rides around in fancy carriages and appears on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a Royal Air Force flypast. Basically, the vibes are this:
FYI, there’s been a buncha speculation that the event (which is set to go down on June 15) could mark Kate Middleton's return to the spotlight. Emphasis on “speculation,” though, because nothing has been confirmed. However, here’s what we *do* know:
Kensington Palace just revealed today (via People) that Kate won't be attending a key dress rehearsal for Trooping the Colour on June 8. Additionally, it relayed that her usual role of Inspecting Officer will instead go to Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE as the Princess of Wales continues her recovery.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that “It is unclear whether we may see the Princess of Wales at Trooping the Colour next month which is one of the most important dates on the royal calendar. The palace has yet to respond on whether she may be well enough to participate.”
Royal expert Christopher Andersen revealed the following to Us Weekly: “She may appear on the balcony; that’s not too much of a strain on her, I wouldn’t think. But [if] she doesn’t, it’s just going to look sad and odd and send the message [that] things are perhaps a little worse than we thought and so we’ll have to wait and see.”
The Telegraph reported that Kate's spokesperson said she “may be keen to attend events as and when she feels able to,” but that “any initial public events will not necessarily signal a return to a regular public schedule.”
The Daily Beast spoke to an insider who said, “I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year.”
