Katie Piper Admits Nasty Tweets Can Get Her Down: ‘I’m Only Human’

Katie Piper is such a strong, inspirational woman, but she’s admitted that she’s ‘only human’, and that nasty messages from even nastier Twitter trolls can make her feel down.

However, falling in love with husband Richard Sutton and becoming a mother to gorgeous daughter Belle has helped boost her confidence.

Speaking to the MailOnline, Katie revealed horrible tweets can affect her mood, explaining: “If I’m honest, yeah it really does. It’s strange because I write books and give advice on confidence but at the end of the day I’m only human.

“As silly as it sounds, comments from a stranger - who doesn’t even know you - can still make you feel a bit down that day.”

She had some great advice for those who feel the need to send horrible messages from behind a computer screen, adding: “We all need to remember that social media is still a real person. If you wouldn’t say it to someone in person when you met them, don’t say it online.”

Hear, hear.

The 32-year-old married Richard, 37, in November, and credits falling in love with helping her self-confidence.

She said: “Falling in love and getting to know somebody has given me more confidence in myself and my decisions, the same as becoming a mother.

“The wedding was the icing on the cake and making everything official. It was a wonderful feeling.”

Katie, who is appearing at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas, wants Belle to grow up being confident too.

She explained: “I want the best for her and I want her to be confident but I don’t want to mother her, I think she can find her own feet.

“I don’t think real life is being confident all the time. I think confidence comes with age and life experience. I will teach her to go out there and see life for herself.”
