Katie Price's beau JJ Slater defends their 14 year age gap as he says 'she makes me happy'

Katie Price's reality TV star beau JJ Slater has broken his silence over their 14 year age gap as he defends their romance.

The former glamour model's toy boy, 31, has finally spoken up about their relationship after Katie, now 45, first slid into his DMs last December after he announced his diabetes diagnosis.

The pair went on a coffee date together, discovering their undeniable spark and have been inseparable ever since.

Their whirlwind romance has even sparked rumours of wedding bells, despite some criticising their substantial age gap, the Mirror reports.

JJ, who is known for his stint on Married At First Sight, has now told MailOnline that he's not fussed by the backlash because she makes him incredibly "happy".

He admitted during his time on the E4 show that he had secretly wished Katie was the one waiting for him at the altar.

Despite only dating for a short period of time, the couple have already stood by one another through thick and thin, especially as the mum-of-three has faced bankruptcy for the second time, the Daily Star reports.

In a recent interview, JJ confessed that his relationship with Katie took him by surprise.

He said: "It wasn't something I was looking for, I had been on Married At First Sight UK, which was a stressful and intense experience but with Kate and I... it just happened super naturally."

The 31-year-old added that Katie has been very supportive following his medical diagnosis which he said was something he deeply "appreciated".

He continued: "Of course, she is obviously a very, very attractive lady and I do fancy her, she's my girlfriend now. But I have always thought she was fit."

When questioned about their age difference, JJ branded it as irrelevant as he argued that compatibility is what truly matters in a relationship.

He explained: "With our age, it's not even a consideration... age doesn't matter at all. Age is just a number and when you're older it's not an issue.

"We're both on the same page and wave length and that's all that matters."

The former glamour model has had her fair share of failed romances and marriages, having walked down the aisle three times previously.

Her ex-husbands include Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler, along with other serious relationships that didn't work out, the most recent being with car salesman Carl Woods.

Despite her complicated dating history, JJ, who also owns a clothing brand appears to be smitten with Katie.

He's even confessed that they've exchanged 'I love yous' and believes their mutual effort is a sign of something real.

"We are both adults and I wouldn't be with someone if I didn't see a future with them. So, that's how I see it, we aren't together to waste each other's time - we are adults so of course, I see a future with her."
