Katy Perry covers up with pillow after wardrobe malfunction on “American Idol”: 'My top broke'

"This is a family show."

Katy Perry is making the most of her final season of American Idol.

The pop icon and longtime Idol panelist typically doesn't hold back when it comes to judging the singing competition's contestants, and her metallic top apparently followed suit when it broke during a wardrobe malfunction on Monday night's broadcast.

"I need my top to stay on," Perry said in an Instagram video shared overnight, which shows her holding the chrome piece to her chest while a team of Idol crew members attempted to fix it during a commercial break. "If it’s not fixed, this show is gonna get more than it wanted."

Perry's fellow Idol judge Luke Bryan made a cameo in the clip, exclaiming, "I got it" before jumping behind his colleague with a pair of scissors, but to no avail.

The video also included a portion from the Idol episode, with Perry informing host Ryan Seacrest that the previous song "broke my top off."

Perry can then be seen covering herself with a pillow and ducking below the judges' desk to hide her top half. "It’s a family show," she joked.

The 39-year-old also confirmed in the video's caption that her "top broke" at some point during the show, shortly after sharing another photo that detailed the top's shark-like shape constructed out of shiny, solid material.

Perry's Idol wardrobe malfunction isn't the singer's only fashion-based development that courted eyeballs in recent days. On Saturday, the "I Kissed a Girl" performer hit the red carpet at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony in Los Angeles with husband Orlando Bloom, where she teased her upcoming album with a tiny, clear purse that contained a note that read "KP6: TOP SECRET" — a clear nod to her long-rumored upcoming album.

Watch Perry make the best of her American Idol wardrobe malfunction above, before the show continues Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
