A Sky Blue-themed memorial is being held in Coventry to celebrate the life of tragic schoolboy Keaton Slater. The sad event will take place at the Radford War Memorial green, the grassed area across road from Aldi on the Radford Road, from 7pm tomorrow night (June 21).

It is being held exactly a week since the 12-year-old's young life was cruelly taken away from him after he was hit by a BMW car. It is being held not far from the tragedy.

But the event is set to be a colourful celebration of his life - and it could only be one colour. Sky blue coloured balloons will be released into the sky as well as sky blue flares in recognition of the Cardinal Newman Catholic School pupil's love for Coventry City FC.

Following this, there will be a minute's round of applause for the youngster. Hundreds are expected to turn out to pay their respects to the youngster.

His tragic death has shocked and touched the whole city and organisers of the 'one week memorial' have urged locals to 'go blue for Keaton'. Those who cannot make it along to the memorial will be able to watch a livestream which will be on the RIP KEATON SLATER page on Facebook.

Organisers say that there will be a small PA sound system so the crowds can hear the event, and there will also be police officers on hand to help with road closures, public safety and to also pay their own respects to Keaton.

Sherwood Jones Close is set to be closed to all traffic to ensure public safety. Fund-raising will also take place at the event, through the sale of blue smoke flares that will be available to buy, priced at a minimum £5 each.

All of the money will be donated to the JustGiving fund for Keaton's family, which has almost topped an incredible £50,000. It it not just Keaton's home city that has rallied, donations have been made across the world from America, Australia, Thailand and Dubai.
