Kehlani Recalls How She Discovered an Ex Was Cheating on Her with Multiple Women: 'It's Actually Diabolical'

"Gotta be careful when you’re 19, you can get spun up in some s---," the R&B singer told Hot 97 of previously dealing with an unfaithful ex

Kehlani’s “psychotic” story about a cheating ex just might be among the craziest of all time.

On Monday, June 24, the R&B singer, 29, stopped by Hot 97 to discuss the process behind their latest studio album, Crash, which led to an interesting conversation about real-life events that have inspired Kehlani’s music — one of which was a past relationship where they discovered they were being cheated on with multiple women.

“This is actually psychotic. It’s actually diabolical,” the Grammy-nominated artist said after host Nessa Diab asked about the craziest thing she’s ever caught someone doing in a relationship. “I found a stack of Polaroids of all the women that he cheated on me with. He was keeping them in Polaroid form… in his travel bag. Diabolical. I wish I was lying. I really do.”

Kehlani recalled the discovery happening around age 19 or 20 while they were traveling with their ex, and the singer stumbled upon the photos while cleaning up. Reflecting on that time, the “Better Not” vocalist said she didn’t speak up about what she found because “I was not the girl I am today that would be like, ‘Yo, wow!’”

“I was definitely like, ‘Oh my God, terrifying…,’” they continued, “and I threw [the photos] away. He never mentioned it to me, and I never said anything.”

According to Kehlani, “crazier things” happened within that relationship, “so it checks out,” she said, chalking the situation up to being young and in love. “I was 19, man. Gotta be careful when you’re 19,” the singer-songwriter said, “you can get spun up in some s---.”

When asked if their former partner was able to smooth things over after being caught cheating, Kehlani shared, “He was just diabolical. He was just a diabolical man.”

The Crash artist also jokingly added, “He crashed out for sure.”

Although Kehlani left her cheating ex nameless in her recent story, the timeframe falls around the when she was linked to exes PartyNextDoor and Kyrie Irving in 2016. They also previously dated YG, whom they went public with in September 2019, though the two broke up a few months later.

Kehlani addressed her split from YG in her Hot 97 interview when asked about his current relationship with on-again off-again girlfriend Saweetie, saying with a laugh, “I’m a lesbian, so why would I care about any male exes?”

"I also don’t care about what any of my exes are doing – male, female, anything," they added. "My goal is everybody to be happy... And I love Saweetie! I think she’s so cute and so fine. We have a song together. We hang out. She’s cool. And they make so much sense. Like knowing them both, I’m like, you know what? I really like this. I’ve told him I like it. I literally am like, ‘I like this a lot. Y’all look cute together.’”
