Keith Urban and Lainey Wilson Harmonize About Partying in a 'Small-Town Bar' for New Duet 'GO HOME W U'

The country music hitmakers teamed up for the song, which will appear on Urban's forthcoming album, due out this fall

Keith Urban has released the third track off his forthcoming album — his first since 2020's The Speed of Now Part 1 – and it comes in the form of a duet with Lainey Wilson.

Titled "GO HOME W U," the two country phenoms joined forces to drop off a laid-back collaboration that sees them harmonizing and trading words about forgetting the worries of their lives and "livin' large in a small-town bar." That is, of course, until closing time comes around, leading to the titular lyrics implying taking someone home after the last drink of the night is finished.

Accompanying the song is a psychedelic-inspired music video that is bookended by black-and-white footage of Urban, 56, and Wilson, 31, driving around together, edited to include both orange and rainbow-hued tints across the screen. Animated black cutouts of the two singers dance across the screen throughout the middle of the video, moving in time with each singer's respective verses.

“I wrote “GO HOME W U” in 2020 with BRELAND, Sam [Sumser] and Sean [Small],” Urban said in a press release shared with PEOPLE. “We had a blast writing it. It started out as a late-night drum loop, I grabbed a bass guitar and started playing a simple recurring bass line. Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world."

"GO HOME W U" did not originally begin as a duet, but Urban shared how he felt Wilson perfectly complemented the song's mood.

“A friend of mine suggested the idea of making the song a duet and I immediately thought of Lainey. Besides the fact that I love her voice, she’s got the swagger and attitude that fit so well with the song," he explained.

As for Wilson's take on teaming up with the four-time Grammy-winning singer, she highlighted in the aforementioned press release how “Keith has been someone in the industry I’ve taken notes from for a while now."

"From watching him at CMA Fest every year growing up to hearing the way he treats people up and down music row, he has taught me a lot," she continued, calling Urban "a genuine supporter of mine" and proclaiming she is "honored I get to continue to learn from one of the best."

"Getting to do a song with Keith is a notch on my belt I am very proud of," Wilson said.

Urban and Wilson are scheduled to perform at Nissan Stadium in Nashville during CMA Fest, which runs from June 6-9. The weekend of performances will also be headlined by Jelly Roll, Luke Bryan, Cody Johnson and HARDY, amongst dozens of other country music stars.
