Kensington Palace offers rare update on Kate Middleton's health after Prince William pulls out of event
There’s been no shortage of royal family drama recently – and things took yet another unexpected twist earlier this week.
Prince William, who has been flying the flag solo as wife Kate Middleton recovers from abdominal surgery, was forced to pull out of an event for the late King of Greece at Windsor Castle just 30 minutes before he was expected to appear.
A statement issued by Kensington Palace did not elaborate further on why he could not attend beyond it being a “personal matter”, but added a rare update on Kate Middleton, saying the Princess of Wales was “recovering well”.
A spokesperson for the couple told The Sun: "We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales was out until after Easter and Kensington Palace would only be providing updates when something was significant."
Kensington Palace also told the tabloid that they wanted to dismiss ongoing "wild conspiracy theories" about the royal family, and that Prince William is set to return to royal duties.

Meanwhile, King Charles has continued to work after going public with his cancer diagnosis.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the monarch showed a rare break from royal protocol, expressing his gratitude to the general public for sending well wishes and said the kindness shown has "reduced me to tears".
Charles has not shared the type of cancer with which he has been diagnosed, but a Palace statement said it was discovered incidentally and is unrelated to his recent enlarged prostate procedure.
Prince Harry, who visited his father after news of his cancer diagnosis, has also given some insight.
During an interview with ABC's Good Morning America, Harry explained: “Look, I love my family and the fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that.”
"Look, I love my family and the fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I'm grateful for that," the Duke commented.
When asked about his 'outlook' on the King's health, Harry then added: "That stays between me and him."
