Despite being reluctant to move, Kerry Katona has opened up about leaving her Cheshire mansion behind for a smaller home because the sprawling £2m pad is just "too big".

The celebrity and mother of five, who regained millionaire status in 2021, confessed that maintaining the large home had become a challenge, especially now that some of her children have grown up and moved out. Kerry was contemplating a move to Marbella with her fiance Ryan Mahoney but chose to remain in the UK to avoid disrupting the education of her youngest daughter, nine year old Dylan Jorge (DJ), reports the Mirror.

On 'moving day', the 43 year old former Atomic Kitten singer shared updates with her 843,000 Instagram followers, expressing gratitude to her removal team: "It's moving day. And using our trusted and amazing removal team @weareanyvan Just a big shout out to you guys you've never let us down! " She also mentioned keeping the team refreshed with tea, saying: "I'll get the kettle on."

A month after Kerry announced her family's plans to move, she shared: "We're moving next month and we haven't packed a single thing. We are not prepared! I'm really sad to leave this house because it's gorgeous and we really get along with our neighbours. It's a shame. But I want a house to feel homely and this one is just so big I can't keep on top of it! " In her column for New!

magazine, Kerry explained the move, saying: "There will be less mess for me to tidy up after the kids in the new house and it's still close by for DJ's school."

When Kerry first settled into the luxurious six-bedroom home complete with its own cinema room she was overjoyed at being able to purchase her own place after 13 years since losing everything. Her financial struggles included filing for bankruptcy twice, in 2008 and 2013.

However, since joining the adult-only platform OnlyFans, Kerry revealed she has once again become a millionaire and managed to turn her life around. At the time, she took to Instagram to express her excitement, posting: "Good morning you beautiful people. Well it's official.

"After losing everything 13 years ago and having to rent I've finally bought me a house. I want to share this news because many times over the years I literally felt suicidal! BUT I never gave up! If I can turn things around and get back on top ANYONE can."

She continued: "I'm not gonna lie Credit where credit due I'm really proud of myself. Don't ever give up on yourself. Doesn't matter if others don't believe in you just as long as you believe in yourself! Thank you @ryanmahoney_7 for always having faith in me even when I didn't. I love you #LOA #stateofmind.

"Even 6 years ago I never thought I'd be where I am today! It's been bloody hard. Drugs, bankruptcy, bipolar, mental health, anxiety, divorcees breakdowns, car crash TVs WOW I honestly never thought I'd get through it all! But here I am."

Kerry then encouraged her followers: "Tell yourself every day you love yourself, tell yourself every day your worth it and never ever let other people's opinions define you as a person! Learn from it all, move on and help others. oh and yes.. I'm moving back up north."

It appears that Kerry is planning to stay in the Cheshire area as she mentioned the family were not moving far. Earlier this week, she disclosed they are looking to purchase their next home together.

Kerry revealed: "We have the keys to our new place now, which is exciting. We're renting, but I found out this week that I've been accepted for a mortgage from a high street bank, which I'm so happy about. I've been trying to get on the property ladder for so long and it shows that you really can turn your life around."
