Khaleesi the dragon finds new home in London Zoo
STORY: Named after the “Mother of Dragons” character Daenerys Targaryen in the popular TV series “Game of Thrones”, Khaleesi may not be able to fly, but she can detect potential dinner from up to 2.5 miles (4 km) away.
The 1.5-metre-long (4.9 feet-long) female was moved from Paignton Zoo, in Devon, to the capital earlier in May, as part of the European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP).
She now lives in London Zoo’s Attenborough Komodo Dragon House - a temperature-controlled biome, an area classified according to the species that live in that location, designed to recreate the hot, rocky native habitat of Indonesia’s Lesser Sunda Islands.
