Kid Cudi reveals why he forgave Kanye West after their feud

Kid Cudi buried the hatchet with Kanye West after he offered him a "sincere" apology.

The close friends and collaborators became embroiled in a public feud in 2022 when Kanye cut Cudi from his Donda 2 album over his friendship with Pete Davidson, who was dating Kanye's ex-wife Kim Kardashian at the time. This prompted Cudi to declare that he was "done" with Kanye and it would take a "miracle" for them to ever be friends again.

During a new interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the Day 'n' Nite hitmaker explained that he patched things up with his Kids See Ghosts collaborator after receiving an apology.

"The reason why we became cool again is because he apologised to me and it was sincere. I was just like, wow," Cudi said. "Kanye does not apologise to anybody and say sorry to anyone. And that's my brother, man. I know he loves me and there's just nothing like Kanye and Cudi. We like the duo that everybody loves to see."

The rapper, real name Scott Mescudi, explained that he eventually remembered everything Kanye did for him at the start of his career, such as paying for the Day 'n' Nite music video.

"When it was going down, I wanted to walk away," he added. "I wanted to give up, but in thinking about it the past couple years, it's like this is someone who is my brother ultimately who came into my life and championed me and did things for me that nobody else did for me early on in my career."

Cudi decided he couldn't "give up" on the Stronger hitmaker, insisting he is "a good man" despite his antisemitism controversy in late 2022.

"He knows he made some mistakes," Cudi continued. "It's like he knows he's been on one hell of a ride and he knows he's said some things that he might not be able to come back from in a lot of realms, in a lot of spaces from certain people. But we grow and I think I pray for him, and that's my brother."

Kanye apologised to the Jewish community for his offensive remarks in December.
