Kid Cudi Shares Update on Coachella Injury: “First Time Walking in Four Months”

Kid Cudi has given an update on his recovery following his Coachella injury.

On Wednesday, the rapper shared a video on Instagram, featuring himself being assisted as he carefully walked in crutches, sporting a cast boot on his right leg. He detailed his progress in the caption, which suggested the video was filmed on Sunday, writing, “July 7th 2024, first day doing ‘toe touch’ putting light weight on my foot. I’m doing much better as of today. Can put about 20 percent of my weight on it.”

Cudi added that in the coming weeks, he’ll be able to “add more weight” and be able to walk without crutches. However, the advancement shown in the clip captured a milestone, as it was Cudi’s “first time walking in 4 months,” he said.

“I was mad happy to see the progress,” Cudi wrote. “My mom filmed this video through tears haha she was so happy to see me walk again.”

The multi-hyphenate closed his social media update by assuring fans that he is coming back “stronger and more focused. I’ve been sitting at home in my dim lit room plotting my resurgence, and soon, we will ride again.”

In a video from his Coachella performance during the second weekend of the festival, Cudi was filmed losing his balance while attempting to jump off the stage. He crouched on the grass, writhing in pain, while waiting for assistance. Club Ambition Podcast’s Victor Baez noted in a tweet that Cudi “had to end his Coachella set early” after hurting his ankle and was carried out of the festival.

Shortly after his injury, Cudi posted a video on social media, updating his fans. “This is what happens when a 40-year-old man tries to prance around off stage like he’s 26, like he used to do back in the day. I learned a valuable lesson: no more prancing around, jumping off stages,” he said. “I’m hoping that I be healed up in time for tour. That’s the plan. I don’t want to let you guys down. So that’s what we’re aiming for. Not canceling anything just yet. Just going to wait and see how things go.”

However, days later, Cudi shared a statement, revealing that he had a “broken calcaneus” and was required to undergo surgery. He also admitted that the injury was “much more serious than I thought” and had to postpone his tour.
