Kieran Tierney has refused to rule out an emotional return to his beloved Celtic one day.

The Hoops diehard, 26, left his boyhood heroes for Arsenal in a Scottish record £25million move back in 2019. Just like his time at Parkhead, the left-back quickly became a huge fans' favourite at the Emirates Stadium and was even tipped as a future Gunners captain.

However, the Scotland international lost his place in the starting XI to Oleksandr Zinchenko last season and was restricted to just six Premier League starts. After falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta, KT was linked with a sensational return to Celtic Park in the summer, before eventually sealing a season-long loan switch to La Liga high-flyers Real Sociedad.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Tierney was asked if he could ever see himself pulling on the famous green and white hoops again and said: “Who knows? You never know in football; it’s a connection that I’ll always have, somewhere I imagine I’ll always be linked with if I’m to move from any club, so you never know.”

Tierney is still under contract for another two years at Arsenal but admits he has no idea if he'll ever play for the North London club again.

He said: "You never know in football. It's probably quite rare that it happens when you come back from a loan. Of course you've got circumstances like [William] Saliba when they just come back and I don't think he's been out the team since - he's not been on the bench since.

"But it's maybe a bit different for someone who has played four years already goes back [into the team]. But you genuinely never know, football is a mad place, so let's see what happens."
