Kieran Trippier steams into 'horrendous' Jordan Pickford as Newcastle star prepares for Euro 2024 final

Kieran Trippier should be fit for Sunday's Euro 2024 final in Berlin despite being taken off in the semi-final win over Holland.

The Newcastle United star's withdrawal was described as a precaution by England boss Gareth Southgate but with Luke Shaw still not fully fit, there is a chance Trippier - who has played in every game - will be involved in the final showpiece at the Euros.

Southgate said: "We didn’t want to take any chances. We had it in our minds bringing Luke into the game at some point and still deciding how long for.

"But we thought finishing with the balance was better than starting it. We’ll see how Tripps is, but he has been a soldier. The level of performance on the wrong side of the pitch has been phenomenal."

Meanwhile, Trippier and his team-mates have been discussing their music tastes as they try to wind down after matches. The full-back laid into Jordan Pickford in the banter stakes and speaking to BBC Five Live, he said: "I'm not even in charge of the music.

"But there's one song that Pickford puts on... He's into rave music, Pickford. His music is horrendous."

England will now face Spain in the final on Sunday night with Trippier and Newcastle team-mate Anthony Gordon in with a shout of creating history in Germany.
