King Charles reportedly laughed so hard at a joke made by a television chef, that his bodyguard was left concerned for his well being.

Chef Ken Hom claims to have left the 75-year-old in stitches as he recalled meeting with the monarch.

According to the MailOnline, Ken Hom - who created the official party lamb recipe for the King's Coronation in May 2023, has been left "devastated" by the monarch's recent cancer diagnosis.

Having previously had the disease himself, Mr Hom explained that he had recently met Charles for the first time in a number of years, the Express reports.

During their reunion, he claims to have made the monarch laugh so much that his bodyguard rushed to check up on him.

He recalled: "When I saw the King last, I hadn't seen him in a couple of years. I said 'Hi, Sir, you don't remember me, but the last time we met we both had hair and you still have yours'."

The Daily Mail's Richard Eden chatted with Mr Hom about their meeting at the Golden Chopsticks Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

According to the article, Mr Hom added: "He laughed so hard, his bodyguard came over to check [that] he was ok."

The King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early February after he was being treated in hospital for an enlarged prostate, which remains unrelated to his diagnosis.

The 75-year-old made his first appearance at a royal engagement on Tuesday, since his devastating diagnosis earlier this year.

He was seen smiling as he paid a visit to the cancer hospital, University College Hospital, in London.

Arriving at the Macmillan Cancer Centre with Queen Camilla, Charles flashed a smile as he spoke with patients and staff.

The monarch wanted to use his visit to highlight some of the innovative research, supported by Cancer Research UK.

Charles also became the new patron for Cancer Research UK on Tuesday.

The Chair of Cancer Research UK, Lord Simon Stevens said: "We are delighted that His Majesty King Charles III has agreed to become our Patron."

Despite returning to his duties, the King is still being treated for his cancer and continued treatment on Tuesday afternoon, after his visit to the centre.
