King Charles reportedly found himself in a fit of giggles over a joke told by a renowned TV chef - so much so that it triggered concern in his security detail. The Royal allegedly roared with laughter at an anecdote from Chef Ken Hom during a recent meeting.

MailOnline reports that TV chef Ken Hom - who crafted the official lamb recipe for the King's Coronation banquet in May 2023 - reportedly feels heartbroken over the monarch's recent cancer diagnosis. Mr Hom, a previous cancer survivor himself, shared how he had lately met with Charles after several years.

The encounter apparently included a moment when Hom's joke caused the King to laugh so uproariously that his bodyguard felt compelled to check on him. His recollection was: "When I saw the King last, I hadn't seen him in a couple of years. I said 'Hi, Sir, you don't remember me, but the last time we met we both had hair and you still have yours'."

The Daily Mail's Richard Eden said the reunion occurred at the Golden Chopsticks Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London where Mr Hom revealed: "He laughed so hard, his bodyguard came over to check [that] he was ok."

In early February, the King was diagnosed with a non-disclosed type of cancer while being hospitalised for an enlarged prostate, a condition declared not related to his cancer diagnosis, reports the Daily Record. The 75 year old made his first public appearance at a Royal event on Tuesday, following his heartbreaking diagnosis earlier this year. He was spotted grinning during his visit to the University College Hospital's cancer ward in London.

Accompanied by Queen Camilla to the Macmillan Cancer Centre, Charles was seen engaging with patients and staff members. The King aimed to use his visit to shed light on the groundbreaking research being conducted, backed by Cancer Research UK.

On Tuesday, Charles also accepted the role of patron for Cancer Research UK. Lord Simon Stevens, Chair of Cancer Research UK, expressed his delight, stating: "We are delighted that His Majesty King Charles III has agreed to become our Patron."

Despite resuming his Royal duties, the King is still undergoing treatment for his cancer, which continued on Tuesday afternoon following his visit to the centre.
