Kirk Millar has seen a lot during the past decade at Linfield but there's one moment which stands out for him.

Millar has built up the reputation of being the Irish League's assist king, but it was a famous goal he plumped for when asked for his standout memory after penning a new deal which take him past 10 years at Windsor Park.

The 31-year-old showed all his class and poise to dink the ball over Bodo Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin to earn the Blues a famous win in the Champions League second qualifying round, first leg clash back in July 2022. It was a moment to savour for Linfield and Millar, who joked he only scores in Europe as the club announced a new two-year deal for the winer.

"I've probably got too many memories from down the years but probably the one which sticks in my head is against Bodo Glimt when I dinked the goalkeeper. That's probably one of the best," Millar told the club's YouTube channel.

"It's a bit of a trademark now, I only score in the Champions League or Europa League, I don't score many in the league. I'm more known for my assists than anything."

The new contract will see Millar earn a testimonial with the Blues next season as he moves towards a decade at Windsor Park, although he admitted he never thought he would be there this long when he joined from Oldham.

"As a Linfield fan I'm happy and over the moon to have been here so long," said Millar. "I wasn't even playing in that first year when I came back so I definitely didn't see myself staying for such a long period of time.

"I'm happy to get the deal over the line. It's probably come at a good time for me and i'm happy to stay."

Linfield may have narrowly missed out on the league title this season, but Millar is already looking forward to the Irish Cup final and has set his sights on another winners' medal.

"It's massive for the club, it's obviously going to be a great day, there's talk of over 13,000 being there," he said. "It's always one of the best days to be involved in and I want to win another one.

"The whole occasion is very special, you get your new suit, you spend the whole day with the team and staff, it's just a really good day all in."
