Kit Harington and Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie post marriage announcement in The Times newspaper

The happy news that Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are engaged spread like wildfire on Tuesday (Sept 26) and the Game of Thrones stars have now officially announced the news with a celebratory ‘forthcoming marriage’ post in The Times newspaper.

The actors, both 30, met while filming the HBO fantasy series together five years ago, and its believed they have kept their nuptials tightly under wraps for some time, telling just a small cirlce of family and friends.

Kit is the son of Sir David Richard Harington, 15th Baronet, through his paternal grandmother, Lavender Cecilia Denny, his eighth-great-grandfather was King Charles II of England.

The couple played lovers Jon Snow and Ygritte in the HBO fantasy series, and revealed their engagement under the names Mr K.C. (Kit Catseby) Harington and Miss R.E. (Rose Eleanor) Leslie.

The ‘forthcoming marriage’ announcement reads: ‘The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire.’

It costs £324 to place the news in The Times, and fellow actor Benedict Cumberbatch used the service in 2014, while Kylie Minogue and Joshua Sasse also shared their engagement news in The Telegraph newspaper.

However, Kit and Rose are not thought to have set a date for their forthcoming wedding as of yet.

A source recently said: “They’re yet to set a date, but told friends and family last week that they’ve got engaged.

“Kit‘s known for ages he’s wanted to marry Rose but he wanted them to get a house and settle down a bit first.

“After moving in together in January he felt it was the right time to take the next step.”

It’s no surprise that Game of Thrones fandom went into overdrive over the news and are delighted for the happy couple.

And yes, he did finally bend the knee!
