A knifeman has admitted fatally stabbing his girlfriend's mum and trying to kill a second woman in a "brutal" attack. Damian Homer lashed out after a row - killing Wendy Francis, 61, and leaving a 38-year-old seriously injured.

Ms Francis died at the scene, a house in Haresfield Close, Worcester, following the attacks on March 2 this year. Homer, 50, of Haresfield Close, admitted charges of murder and attempted murder at Worcester Crown Court today, Thursday, June 20.

Wendy’s family paid tribute to her the day after her death, describing her as "much-loved and one-in-a-million." Homer was remanded in custody to be sentenced on a date yet to be confirmed.

Speaking after the case, senior investigating officer Det Chief Insp Leighton Harding said: “I’m pleased Homer has pleaded guilty today so the victims and families do not have to re-live this nightmare in court. This was a horrific and brutal attack which has caused lifelong trauma for those involved.

“I’d like to commend Wendy’s family and his second victim for the immense courage and composure they have shown since the incident and throughout court proceedings.”
